Wigmore Anniversary
Monday 18 January 2016

In 1991 a young Polish man made his Wigmore Hall debut. The snow was ankle deep that night but people still queued for returns. Word had got around that it might be quite good.

February 9th marks the 25th anniversary of that unforgettable occasion. This time Anderszewski will be playing partitas by J.S. Bach (his first and last) plus two works by Robert Schumann: the Papillons op.2 and the composer's last piano work, his posthumously published Geistervariationen. The symmetry of the programme is bisected by a work with which Anderszewski is closely associated: Szymanowki's impressionistic Métopes op.29.

If you would like to join Piotr Anderszewski for his Wigmore anniversary, see performances for more details.
