Beethoven Bagatelles op 126, Piano Concerto No 1 - The Daily Telegraph
Saturday 29 March 2008

In Beethoven's C major Concerto, [Anderszewski's] superfine control of colour, rhythm and nuance, his command of the larger as well as the smaller shapes of the music, are as breathtaking as ever.

Yet, unlike some pianists, he never lets you forget that this is a young man's music, teeming with animal spirits and a sheer delight in inventive extravagance. There is nothing sensational about Anderszewski's interpretation, no wilful tempo manipulations, no self-conscious striving to be "different". But imagination, searching intelligence and, in the outer movements, a sense of eager, spontaneous discovery are everywhere in evidence.
